Dragons Arrive In PvP!

House Leaders, the time has come!

Dragons are arriving into PvP (Raids and Alliance War) starting on or before Jun 16, 2026. Along with this change, we're making updates to all of the dragons.

We wanted to ensure dragons felt sufficiently menacing, as they are in the show. To accomplish this, we’ve made 2 major changes:

  1. All dragons will now have 2 passive abilities! (Still no leader abilities though)

  2. All dragons are having their stats increased to the budget of our latest released champions.

With those out of the way, let’s talk about the updates you can expect to see for the dragons in game!

All of these should be large buffs to the dragons, so much so that they can almost be considered a relaunch of the champions. So instead of full patch notes, we’ll only be covering the highlights in this diary.

CARAXES

Caraxes has always been a niche champion. His ability to convert Hazard Gems into Unique Power-ups makes him interesting, though rarely useful.

We’re ok with champions being niche, but they should be powerful when in their niche.

Caraxes highlights:

  • He’s officially a member of the Blacks faction.

  • His new passive should open up possibilities for Dragon teams.

  • He’ll destroy more Hazards, deal more damage, give out FURY and has a synergy with a currently unreleased champion. (We wonder who it could be).

DROGON

Drogon has found occasional use in the Crown’s Challenge as a way to apply lots of FIRE to the enemy team. We also know that some players will use a common champion, the Dragonstone Mender, for the same reason in PvP game modes.

Our goal with Drogon is to have him fill the role of the Dragonstone Mender without needing a common on your team. But since we don’t want any champions to have identical abilities, Drogon will increase ALL FIRE, including the ones applied to your team. We think this will make for an interesting difference as you can now have Drogon accelerate Viserys Targaryen III’s ramp, convert FIRE into RENEW with Alicent, or build your team around this effect by bringing champions who are immune to FIRE; such as Daenerys Mother Of Dragons or the Night King.

Drogon highlights:

  • He’s now a member of BOTH the Targaryen and Free Cities factions.

  • He will strike harder and add additional FIRE with his new passive.

ICY VISERION

The dragon of the Night King is powerful, adding debuffs in an AoE and striking random foes when allies reinforce the battlefield. We’re looking to push the synergy he has with the Night King and REINFORCE-based playstyles.

Icy Viserion highlights:

  • Icy Viserion’s new passive will grant his team leader stamina and remove debuffs any time REINFORCEMENTS enter the battlefield

  • Since Icy Viserion can now be an enemy in combat, we’re experimenting with limits to prevent him from turning the entire game board into FEAR gems. His damage should be able to strike for each REINFORCEMENT, but he will only spawn FEAR gems once per turn when REINFORCEMENTS arrive while on defence.

MELEYS

Meleys is already quite a powerful dragon and was made to crush her foes in PvP. As a very durable dragon who doesn’t have TAUNT we’re using her second passive as an incentive to focus her early before she becomes too powerful.

Meleys highlights:

  • Once Meleys is enraged, she will deal damage every turn, scaling with the amount of RENEW she has.

  • Meleys can now grant herself RENEW and deals increased damage with her Skill.

  • We fixed a bug with Meleys where her 1st passive wasn’t dealing the correct amount of damage when Meleys became ENRAGED.

RHAEGAL

Rhaegal’s current design feels unsatisfying. It feels bad to have no agency in waking the dragon, so we’re completely reworking Rhaegal’s BIDE passive. The new version should be far more effective when he’s paired with fast allies, such as those on the Free Cities.

Since these versions of the dragons are from Daenerys’ time in Meereen, Rhaegal will be joining the Free Cities. He won’t be a Targaryen like Drogon however, because we don’t want the 3 dragons to all share the same Dual Factions. Drogon is the only one given the Targaryen faction due to his synergy with FIRE.

Rhaegal highlights:

  • Rhaegal is now a member of the Free Cities.

  • Rhaegal deals massively increased damage.

  • Rhaegal now begins with many stacks of BIDE, and actions throughout the match will slowly cause Rhaegal to join the battle.

  • Rhaegal’s new passive makes him an unstoppable force once he awakens. He also destroys a gem at the start of every turn, so at least he’s doing something while he’s BIDING his time.

SUNFYRE

Sunfyre is the most used dragon in the game currently. With the buffs to his stats and a 2nd passive, we’re a little worried about how he’ll arrive in PvP.

The Greens are meant to be a powerful burst team that runs out of steam, but we never want to let them start their combo on turn 1 because that fully eliminates counterplay. Sunfyre has been allowed to break that rule up until now since we think it’s ok in PvE content. But with Sunfyre’s arrival in PvP, we’re reducing his starting stamina to match all the other Greens.

For Sunfyre’s new passive, we’re experimenting with a new keyword: RESURGENCE. Our goal with this keyword is to give players a quest, which, once achieved, fully fills the champion’s stamina and grants them 10 BIRTHRIGHT. Since this is our first one, the quest for Sunfyre is simple to understand, just keep him alive into the late game.

Sunfyre highlights:

  • Reduced stamina to match other Greens at start of combat.

  • New passive can grant Sunfyre a RESURGENCE.

VISERION

Viserion is similar to Rhaegal. His kit lacked a clear design goal and he lacked an appropriate niche. Similar to Rhaegal, Viserion will be added to the Free Cities faction to represent his time in Meereen.

We like that all of the adolescent dragons have a drawback, but now that they’re entering PvP, we want to make sure those drawbacks are worth the cost. Viserion is being completely redesigned as an anti-heal dragon.

Now, when his skill strikes, it will deal substantially more damage to any champions that were healed during the previous turn. Players will need to time their heals for when Viserion takes a nap if they don’t want to watch their health bars melt.

His new passive takes inspiration from the alliance's legendary assault version. Viserion will strike any foes who attack him while he’s resting.

Viserion highlights:

  • Viserion is now a member of the Free Cities faction

  • Viserion’s Skill has been redesigned

  • Viserion has a new passive, and his old passive now steals RENEW from enemies.
