10/01/25 Update - Patch Notes

Greetings House Leaders,

A new update has arrived! Read on to learn more about new features, tuning, and bug fixes for the newest Game of Thrones: Legends release!

Tuning

Campaign Tuning

  • Slightly reduced enemy levels on normal difficulty for chapter 3.

System Changes

Defense Formula Update

We’ve updated our damage mitigation formula to make the DEF stat more meaningful, especially for tanks. This is a system-wide change and affects all Champions in the game, to varying degrees. For now, it will only affect PvP-style battles (Raids, Crown’s Challenge milestones, and Proving Grounds Challenge battles), but we’ll be adapting all PvE-style battles to make use of it in a future patch.

What’s Changing

  • Tanks are tankier. High-DEF Champions now take significantly less damage across the board.

  • DEF Buffs and Debuffs matter more. Buffing a tank’s DEF has a bigger payoff, and DEF Debuffs are now critical for breaking through heavy defenses.

  • Low-DEF Champions are squishier - but harder to one-shot. While they take more consistent damage, their max damage taken is now capped slightly lower, making them a bit less fragile to huge burst hits.

Why This Matters

The previous system favored raw ATK > DEF difference, which led to diminishing returns on DEF. With this change, stacking DEF is more valuable and tanks feel more like true frontliners. It also creates more strategic value in using DEF debuffs or countering tanky teams with the right tools.

Examples

Here’s a look at some high-DEF Champions and the impact to their damage mitigation using 7-star, 150 level Champions (no Gear), before and after the DEF formula improvement.

Robb Stark hitting Meryn Trant

  • Before: 11,063 damage

    MerynOldSystemBaseDamage
  • After: 7,493 damage

MerynNewSystemBaseDamage

Let’s take a look at Robb vs Meryn, but with a 25% DEF buff applied. We can see that DEF buffs reduce damage massively, allowing tanks to get even tankier than ever before.

Robb Stark hitting Meryn Trant (With DEF Buff)

  • Before: 10,601 damage. Compared to 11,063 with no DEF buff - Meryn takes about 4% less damage

    MerynOldSystemWithDefBuff
  • After: 5,105 damage. Compared to 7,493 with no DEF buff. Meryn now takes about 32% less damage with this buff. Def Buffs are much stronger now.)

MerynNewSystemWithDefBuff

Next, let’s look at Arya Stark (Winterfell Returned) - a low-DEF Champion, and how she’ll now still take significant damage from most sources, but is now less likely to be one-shot into oblivion.

Hit by Theon Greyjoy (high-damage)

  • Before: 24,773 damage

  • After: 17,954 damage

Champion Tuning

A comprehensive list of Champions - both tank and DPS affected by the DEF formula changes, as well as some improvements we’ve been working on for various Champs that haven’t been performing as expected.

Yoren

He gains a significant boost from the DEF formula update, but he hasn’t been fulfilling his Protector role effectively - especially early in the fight. He only gained TAUNT on ally defeat, which was too late - his new recruits need his protection! We’ve made several improvements to help him SHIELD and defend his Night’s Watch allies more reliably.

  • Skill speed: Slow → Normal

  • Skill damage: 100% (150%) → 50% (100%)

  • Skill SHIELD power: 10% (20%) → 15% (20%)

  • (NEW) Passive: Yoren has an innate +10% (15%) Physical Resistance buff. When a Night’s Watch ally has their SHIELD destroyed, Yoren gains TAUNT for 2 turns. When any team member is defeated, the team gains a 15% Current HP SHIELD.

  • Leader Marksman ATK Debuff duration: indefinite at all Star Ranks.

  • (NEW) Leader 5-star upgrade: When an enemy Marksman uses their Skill, Yoren strikes them for 50% DEF damage and WOUNDS them for 3 turns.

Jorah Mormont

Thanks to the new DEF formula - and his built-in DEF buff - Jorah is significantly more durable. To keep him from becoming too dominant, we’ve slightly reduced his overall power. Even with this adjustment, Jorah is notably stronger than before.

  • Skill DEF buff: 20% (40%) → 20% (30%)

Jon Snow (King in the North)

As promised, Jon is receiving a buff to better align with the DEF formula update. While he’s already performing well - especially for new players - his REVIVE has been improved to make him more durable after returning to the battlefield. This makes him an even stronger leader for early campaigns and alliance battles.

  • Leader HP On REVIVE: 35% → 40%

  • Leader AoE DEF Buff: 15% → 20%

Ghost

As the highest ATK Champion in the game, Ghost needs to pack a punch - especially against tanks. This update includes a small buff to help him feel more impactful. We know many of you miss his ICE synergy. While the original version was too inconsistent to justify, we’re still exploring ways to bring this iconic combo back in the future. No promises yet, but it’s on our radar.

  • Skill damage: 75% (150%) → 100% (175%)

Lord Varys

With DEF more impactful, Varys’ DEF debuff became significantly stronger than intended. We’ve reduced its power to keep his impact balanced under the new formula.

  • Skill DEF debuff: 50% (65%) → 30% (45%)

Meryn Trant

Player feedback during the beta playtest highlighted that Meryn’s Leader ability was underwhelming. While originally designed to counter the Greens by interrupting early Stamina gain, we’ve made a small tweak to make it a more impactful control tool.

  • Leader STUN/WOUND duration: 1 turn → 2 turns

Ned Stark

He’s already a strong early-game tank, and with the new DEF formula, he’s becoming even more durable. To balance this, we needed to mitigate his potential to HEAL more damage than he takes from Critical Strikes. This keeps his survivability in check at high levels without impacting his effectiveness for lower-level players.

  • Passive: No longer increases from 5% to 7.5% at 6-stars.

Ramsay Bolton

His role as a hard-hitting AoE attacker remains intact through the DEF formula changes, but we’ve made a key improvement to avoid his ire and a potential flaying. We tend to avoid AoE BLEED application due to its significant power, but given his slow speed and self-damaging mechanics, we felt justified in ensuring Ramsay can inflict it upon crucial targets - reinforcing his identity as one of the game’s premier BLEED Champions.

  • Skill damage: 150% (200%) → 175% (225%)

  • Passive BLEED chance: 75% → 100%

Sansa Stark

Her large AoE DEF buff and RENEW have become significantly stronger under the new DEF formula. To keep her balanced, we’ve slightly reduced her power - but she still stands to gain more from the formula update than she loses from this adjustment.

  • Skill ATK/DEF Buff: 20% (32%) → 15% (25%)

  • Skill Buff duration: 4 (6) turns → 4 (5) turns

Yara Greyjoy

She’s performing well, but with the DEF formula changes, we’re giving her a buff to ensure she remains a reliable finisher for Greyjoy teams. She needs to be a tank-killer when her allies set RAID up well for her. It may seem small, but it results in 100% ATK damage buff on a target with 10 RAID.

  • Skill damage per RAID: 40% (65%) → 50% (75%)

Arya Stark (Winterfell Returned)

She is no one, but she shouldn’t feel like nothing in battle. When her Skill only upgrades violet Gems into Faceless Gems, it can lead to frustrating results if there aren’t enough violet gems, or they’re in difficult matching positions. This update will ensure she always spawns all of her Gems, with a much more reliable chance to trigger cascades.

  • Skill base damage: 30% (50%) → 50% (75%)

  • Skill ARYA’S LIST marked damage: 175% (250%) → 200% (275%)

  • Skill Faceless Gem: Now can spawn on any normal Gems.

Bejen Stark

As a key damage dealer for SHIELD-focused teams, Uncle Benjen is getting a boost. His damage while SHIELDED has been increased, and his utility has been improved to help his brothers hold the line more effectively.

  • Skill SHIELD damage: 300% (350%) → 325% (425%)

  • Passive debuff removal chance: 50% → 75%

  • Leader Wildling ATK debuff: 10% → 15%

  • Leader Wilding Accuracy debuff: 15% → 20%

  • Adjustment to his Passive description to specify the ability only triggers when a Buff is gained.

Beric Dondarrion

The Lord of Light restores more than just life - Beric’s FIRE returns as well. In a previous tuning pass, we gave Beric substantially more damage and crit chance, but he lost his reliable FIRE.

  • Skill: Now has a 50% chance to afflict all enemies with FIRE.

  • Bug Fix: Fixed an issue where Beric’s Critical strikes were applying an incorrect amount of FIRE to enemies.

Bronn

Since he excels at repeat strikes, he often finds himself hitting TAUNTING tanks. Everyone’s favorite sellsword should not suffer from the DEF formula changes, so his damage against marked targets has been significantly increased, helping him punch through even the toughest tanks. We’ve also fixed a bug so his ATK and Might will scale properly, and his Faction will now reflect this version of Bronn’s close ties (and shared survival instincts) with Tyrion.

  • Skill BRONN’S DAGGER marked damage: 150% (225%) → 200% (300%)

  • Bug Fix: 3-star Trait now properly grants bonus stats.

  • Faction: Lannister

Cersei Lannister

She’s received a full rework. Her previous kit was overly complex with underwhelming payoff - especially for newer players who have easy access to her. Her new abilities still focus on DECEIVING enemies and dealing SUSTAINED damage, but are now much easier to access and more rewarding to use. Her new Leader ability also provides a strong boost to TREASURY teams, making her a powerful option for gold-focused squads.

  • (NEW) Skill: Cersei DECEIVES a target enemy for 2 turns, then deals 75% (100%) ATK Physical Damage to all enemies. TREASURY (3): All STUNNED, DECEIVED, or WOUNDED enemies take 50% (75%) SUSTAINED ATK Physical Damage for 3 turns.

  • (NEW) Passive: Cersei begins combat with full Stamina. When she takes damage from a Skill, her attacker and all DECEIVED enemies suffer a -5% Durability Debuff for 3 (4) turns.

  • (NEW) Leader: All enemies begin combat DECEIVED for 2 turns. When an enemy becomes afflicted with a SUSTAINED damage effect, Cersei spawns 1 Coin Gem.

Craghas Drahar

As a slow-burn damage dealer, the Crabfeeder was struggling to keep pace - especially with tankier enemies getting stronger. His base Skill damage has been slightly increased, and his Leader STUN duration (when allies are defeated) has been extended to give him more impact in drawn-out fights.

  • Skill initial damage: 75% (125%) → 100% (150%)

  • Leader STUN on enemy defeat: 1 turn → 3 turns

  • All stat bonuses now displayed in his Stat Trait.

Craster

He wasn’t heavily impacted by the DEF formula changes, but he’s still performing slightly below expectations. We’ve given him a small bump to both his Skill damage and passive SHIELDING to keep him competitive.

  • Skill damage: 125% (175%) → 130% (200%)

  • Passive SHIELD power: 10% (15%) → 15% (20%)

The Ice Warden

The winds of winter stir, and so the Ice Warden must rise. A modest boost to help him thrive as the cold draws nearer.

  • Skill damage: 125% (175%) → 125% (200%)

  • Skill Stamina drain: 10% → 15%

  • Leader REVIVE: 30% (40%) HP → 40% (50%) HP

  • -15% Fire Resistance is now innate to his kit and can no longer be REMOVED.

Joffrey Baratheon (Protector of the Realm)

His TREASURY ability was too costly for what it delivered. We’ve increased the damage and adjusted how SCORN works - he no longer HEALS when his marked target is struck. Instead, defeating a SCORNED enemy will now refund part of the TREASURY cost, as long as Joffrey lives to witness it.

  • Skill base damage: 125% (175%) → 125% (200%)

  • Skill TREASURY damage: 125% (175%) → 150% (250%)

  • (NEW) Passive effect: When an enemy marked with SCORN is defeated, Joffrey spawns 3 Coin Gems.

  • Passive 6-star HEAL: Removed

  • Passive Dodge Chance buff: 20% → 10 (15%)

Khal Drogo

Drogo’s Critical Damage bonus is now an innate stat, which means it cannot be REMOVED and is displayed in his info screen stats.

Margaery Tyrell

She remains one of the strongest general-purpose healers, but we’ve given her a small boost when paired with Treasury teams - reflecting her synergy with Joffrey. Their Ally Gem - Royal Couple -  has been improved to better support Treasury teams without impacting her strength elsewhere.

  • Margaery is now eligible to be used in the Crownlands Tournament.

  • Ally Gem DEF buff: Removed

  • (NEW) Ally Gem effect: Grants RENEW to the target.

  • (NEW) Ally Gem effect: Add 1 Coin to the TREASURY.

  • All stat bonuses now displayed in her Stat Trait.

Tyrion Lannister (The Half Man)

He’s seeing a lot of use where players are keeping him at level 1 to cause his HP Guard to trigger quickly. This isn't a play behavior we want to encourage so we've made some changes to Tyrion to make leveling him up a better proposition for players looking to get the most out of his DECEIVE.

  • Skill initial strike damage: 100% (200%) → 150% (250%)

  • Skill Treasury cost: 4 → 6

  • Skill Treasury DECEIVE target: single-target → all enemies.

  • Skill Treasury DECEIVE duration: 3 turns → 2 turns

  • Passive HP Guard SHIELD power: 15% Max HP → 10% (15%) Max HP

  • Passive HP Guard DECEIVE: Removed

  • Passive HP Guard: Now adds 6 coins to the Treasury.

Petyr Baelish

His damage scales well, but he struggles to build and maintain his SHIELD in evenly matched battles. Given that his ability to bring chaos to battle is tied to enemy defeat, we felt confident increasing the power of his Passive and Leader abilities to help him thrive in more situations, and make it a bit easier to achieve his ultimate Leader potential.

  • Passive SHIELD power: 15% (20%) → 20% (25%)

  • Passive Coin spawning: 1 → 2

  • Leader SHIELD power: 10% → 12%

  • Passive description fix: Updated to reflect that his SHIELD scales with Max HP, not ATK.

Roose Bolton

He’s a bit below his target power, so we’ve given him a small buff to help him better pressure priority enemy targets.

  • Skill Stamina refund on Leader strike: 25% → 50%

Sandor Clegane (Joffrey’s Guardian)

His popularity is on the rise as players start to see his strengths on hybrid teams. To reinforce his Treasury team synergy, we’ve given him a small Coin-based performance boost.

  • Skill TREASURY cost: 5 → 4

Talisa Stark

She’s been performing generally well, but we don’t like her frustrating likelihood to grant DPS allies TAUNT. So, her Skill has been reworked and powered-up to be more controlled and effective. To balance this clear improvement, her Stamina speed has been reduced.

  • Skill Speed: Fast → Normal

  • (NEW) Skill: Talisa grants a target ally TAUNT for 3 turns with a 75% (100%) chance to grant them 1 RENEW. She then HEALS all allies for 15% (25%) Max HP, and REMOVES all SUSTAINED damage effects from them.

  • Enemy AI: She now prioritizes targeting ally Protectors when granting TAUNT.

Tormund Giantsbane

He’s mostly unaffected by the DEF changes, but we’ve slightly increased his SHIELD damage to help him better counter SHIELD-heavy teams. We’ve also improved his Skill sequencing for smoother and more effective gameplay.

  • Skill SHIELD damage: 75% (125%) → 100% (150%)

  • Skill change: Tormund now deals his SHIELD damage before his normal damage.

  • Passive SHIELD break damage: 50% (100%) → 75% (150%)

Ygritte

Her win rates were slightly below target, and we’d like to see her used more in BLEED teams or as a general DPS. She’s received a damage buff to keep up with the DEF formula changes, along with a few utility improvements to help her shine in the right comps.

  • Skill damage: 125% (200%) → 150% (250%)

  • Skill Dodge Buff: 10% (20%) → 15% (25%)

  • Skill Dodge Buff duration: 3 turns → 4 turns

  • (NEW) Passive effect: While in STEALTH, Heartseeker (her Skill) applies 2 BLEED.

Godswood Defender

His support ability has been reworked to better counter BLEED teams, and make him more reliable in events like Battle of the Bastards and any mode where BLEED resistance is key.

  • Passive HEAL: Now targets a random ally (not himself).

  • Passive HEAL at 6-stars: Now always HEALS himself in addition to his primary target.

Kinguard Sergeant

  • Enemy AI: He now prioritizes targeting ally Protectors when granting TAUNT.

Lhazareen Chieftain

Adjustment due to the DEF formula change.

  • Skill DEF buff: 20% (40%) → 15% (30%)

Dragonstone Maester

  • Enemy AI: Now prioritizes targeting ally Protectors when granting allies TAUNT.

Bolton Banner Man

Adjustment due to the DEF formula change.

  • Skill DEF buff: 20% (40%) → 10% (30%)

The Greens

The Greens have dominated the meta for nearly a year, particularly on defense, and it's time to bring more diversity and balance to team compositions. We want Game of Thrones: Legends to be about experimentation, problem-solving, and dynamic matchups - not hitting the same wall of defensive Greens over and over again.

Our goal with these changes is not to make the Greens weak - they’re meant to be aggressive and hard-hitting attackers - but their overwhelming success on defense has made them feel oppressive and reduced variety in high-level play. In fact, Greens currently occupy most of the top ranks with win rates exceeding 90%. That level of dominance stifles creativity and needed to be addressed.

We’ve noticed that attacking Greens also tend not to ramp down on BIRTHRIGHT at the rate we intended, so we’ve made some additional adjustments that will affect them on the attacking side.

What’s Changing:

Stamina Gain Reduction (Defense Only): All Greens Champions now generate 25% less Stamina when controlled by the enemy AI. This system-wide change slows their ability to cycle abilities as quickly and should significantly reduce their oppressive power on defense while keeping them viable on offense.

BIRTHRIGHT damage buff: 3% → 2%

Individual Champion Adjustments: Some key Greens Champions will now lose BIRTHRIGHT when they use their Skill in addition to each turn. Some key Greens Champions have also had their enemy-side basic attack ratio decreased significantly.

BIRTHRIGHT Fix: An unintended interaction was introduced back when we made some system adjustments to BRITTLE, which has allowed basic attacks to benefit from BIRTHRIGHT’s damage bonus - something that was never intended. This will be fixed in the next major client release, reducing a key source of unintentional extra damage on defensive teams. When this fix lands, we may re-adjust those key Champions’ basic attack ratios to ensure they’re not losing too much defensive damage.

We still want the Greens to remain a strong, aggressive faction - especially in player hands - but these changes are necessary to restore balance and make room for more varied and engaging team strategies across the game.

We’re going to be closely monitoring Greens team performance and will make any necessary further adjustments to ensure these changes didn’t have too much - or too little - impact on the health of the Greens and the overall game.

Otto Hightower

With DEF now being a more impactful stat, Ottos’ DEF debuff became significantly stronger. We’ve slightly reduced the strength and duration of his debuff to keep his power level in check under the new system.

  • Skill DEF Debuff per BIRTHRIGHT: 2% (5)% → 1% (4%)

  • Skill DEF Debuff duration: 3 turns → 2 turns.

  • Skill: Otto loses 1 BIRTHRIGHT upon Skill use.

  • Base basic attack damage (defense only): 100% → 50%

Alicent Hightower (The Green Queen)

  • Skill: Alicent loses 1 BIRTHRIGHT upon Skill use.

  • Base basic attack damage (defense only): 100% → 50%

Aemond Targaryen

  • Skill: Aemond loses 1 BIRTHRIGHT upon Skill use.

  • Base basic attack damage (defense only): 100% → 50%

Aegon Targaryen

  • Base basic attack damage (defense only): 100% → 50%

Criston Cole (Kingmaker)

  • Base basic attack damage (defense only): 100% → 50%

Bug Fixes

Champions and Enemies Fixes

  • Fixed a bug where Joffrey (The Future King) would SCOUT his allies when dropping below 50% or 25% HP due to friendly fire.

  • Reverted an unintended change to Talisa Stark’s subclass.
